Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have intercepted three suspected terrorists in the Kayamla general area of Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The development was disclosed in a statement posted on X on Saturday by security analyst.
According to Reports obtained by The News Chronicle, the suspects were intercepted by troops of 73 Battalion during a joint operation with the CJTF.
The suspects reportedly claimed to be repentant terrorists undergoing rehabilitation at the Bulumkutu Rehabilitation Centre Maiduguri and said they were on their way to their farms.
However, one of the suspects was allegedly found in possession of two rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition.
The suspect reportedly attempted to escape during the operation but was neutralised by the troops.
The other two suspects were apprehended and are currently in military custody for further investigation.
Troops also recovered a bicycle, bottles of herbicide and other sundry items from the suspects.
The incident comes as security forces continue to intensify operations across Borno State to prevent the movement and activities of terrorists and strengthen security around vulnerable communities.
Investigation into the identities and activities of the suspects is ongoing.
