The Nigeria Football Federation has appointed two NPFL coaches, Fidelis Ilechukwu of Enugu Rangers and Daniel Ogunmodede, as assistants to Austine Eguavoen, who will be in charge of the Super Eagles for the 2025 Morocco AFCON qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda on the 7th and 10th of September, respectively.
Remo Stars announced this update on their Facebook page, saying:
“Our head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has received an appointment to be the Super Eagles’ assistant coach for this month’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.”
Fidelis Ilechukwu guided the Flying Antelopes to their NPFL title last season after previously managing MFM and Nasarawa United. Fidelis led his team to the next round of the CAF Champions League Preliminary Round, being the only Nigerian side to have made it to the next round.
Ogunmodede has also been excellent with Remo Stars, finishing as runners-up to Enyimba FC of Aba two seasons ago and to Rangers of Enugu last season.
The Super Eagles provided an update on seven arrivals for the first game in Uyo, Nigeria:
“Seven early birds touched down in Uyo at 10 a.m. Monday morning: William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Olisa Ndah, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.”
