Actress Regina Daniels has denied several allegations made by her co-wife, Laila Charani, who accused her of drug use, influencing others in the household with drugs, and engaging in lesbianism.
Charani published in a detailed Instagram statement on Thursday, alleged that Daniels introduced her to drugs six years earlier, saying:
“You know too well that I almost lost my marriage when you introduced me to drugs 6 years ago, and it was my husband’s quick insistence on intervention that rescued me from that dark path.”
Charani also accused Daniels of exposing domestic workers and her sister, Destiny, to drugs. She added:
“You have been a bad influence since you married into this family, giving drugs to nannies and our workers, including your younger sister, Destiny.”
She stated that she no longer trusts her daughters to be alone with Daniels, claiming:
“I will not trust my daughters around you unsupervised, especially when I found out that you were sleeping with every single girl around you.”
Charani also linked the household tension to Daniels’ alleged drug and alcohol use, saying:
“The only reason you are fighting my husband is because he wants you to stop your drug and alcohol addiction.”
Daniels dismissed the statements, arguing that they were influenced by her husband. She wrote:
“Openly saying you can’t leave kids around me is the most useless and hurtful thing Ned ordered his retarded wife to say.”
Responding to allegations of same-sex relationships, Daniels questioned Charani’s certainty:
“Sleeping with the same gender isn’t a thing I consider shameful, but how is she so certain? Is she so certain because I slept with her, too?”
Daniels also referred to issues involving Charani’s son without giving details:
“If not for polygamy disadvantages, her son and mine can’t be together because of all the atrocities we have caught him doing that I will never mention.”
The controversy grew beyond the family when actress Uche Montana was pulled into the discussion. On 10 November, Montana issued a public statement after noticing her name circulating in connection with the drug allegations. She wrote:
“My attention has been drawn to a circulating post that appears to link my name to certain claims. For clarity, I have no involvement or connection to the situation described.”
She added that her decision to respond was to protect her reputation:
“This note is simply to set the record straight and protect my peace.”
Montana’s statement followed earlier comments attributed to Senator Ned Nwoko, who reportedly claimed that Regina Daniels was struggling with drug and alcohol addiction and she was one of her drug suppliers.
