Real Madrid Slaps Record Price Tag on Vinicius Jr Amid Arsenal Transfer Interest

—

Real Madrid have reportedly placed a record asking price on Vinicius Junior as speculation over Arsenal’s interest in the Brazilian winger continues. Spanish heavyweights are prepared to do everything possible to ensure that one of their stars does not leave the club, unless a sensational offer is made before his contract expires.

The News Chronicle reports that Arsenal had contacted the player’s representatives, but no formal negotiations have begun between the two clubs. With less than a year left to go on his current contract, Madrid want to renew the forward’s deal or cash in on the Brazilian during the summer, rather than losing him for free.

The Spanish publication calculates that Real will only agree to sell if the price is higher than what they received for Cristiano Ronaldo when he joined Juventus, meaning a move to the English club would be their highest-ever transfer.

It is understood that discussions are set to resume when the Brazilian international returns to training from his holiday, where he has been due to his recent knee injury. Meanwhile, Real believe it is even in the best interests of the player and his representatives that he stays at the Bernabeu under new manager Jose Mourinho, despite speculation that Arsenal and other clubs are interested in his services.
