Swansea City has officially announced that Real Madrid icon and Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modrić has joined the club as a co-owner and investor.
In a statement, the club said: “Swansea City is delighted to announce that Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modrić has joined the club as an investor and co-owner.”
The Swansea board expressed enthusiasm about the partnership:
“We are thrilled to welcome Luka to our ownership group. From our very first conversation, it was clear that our visions aligned. Luka brings immense value, and we appreciate the support from him and his team throughout this process. We can’t wait to welcome him to the Swansea.com Stadium to meet everyone soon.”
The club noted that Luka’s involvement reflects a strong endorsement of Swansea’s ambitions and long-term goals. His experience and global profile are expected to significantly boost the club’s growth, both on and off the pitch.
Reacting to the announcement, Luka Modrić said:

Modrić is the most decorated player in Real Madrid’s history, having won six UEFA Champions League titles, six Club World Cups, five UEFA Super Cups, four La Liga championships, two Copa del Rey titles, and five Spanish Super Cups.
On the international stage, he is Croatia’s all-time most capped player and famously led his country to the 2018 World Cup final. Now 39, he has made 45 appearances for Real Madrid this season, scoring four goals. He has also earned individual honors including The Best FIFA Men’s Player award and the Ballon d’Or.
