Rarara Blasts Davido Over ‘Bring Them Home’ Jacket, Says Action Damages Nigeria’s Image

Famous Hausa praise singer, Dauda Adamu Kahutu, popularly known as Rarara, has criticised Afrobeats star Davido over his recent performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup countdown concert, describing his actions as harmful to Nigeria’s image.

Davido had appeared on stage wearing a jacket bearing the inscription “Bring Them Home,” along with the names of abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oyo State.

The gesture, which was later shared on social media, was accompanied by a message expressing concern for victims of insecurity and a call for peace.

However, reacting in a video posted on his verified Facebook page obtained by The News Chronicle, Rarara condemned the move, describing it as “barbaric” and accusing the singer of politicising a sensitive national issue.

He questioned the intention behind publicly displaying the names of abducted victims on an international stage, warning that such actions could portray Nigeria negatively abroad. He also alleged that insecurity-related issues should not be used for political messaging or public campaigns.

Rarara further suggested that Davido’s actions may have been influenced by political considerations, linking the gesture to his uncle’s political ambitions, a claim he raised without providing evidence.

He also argued that security matters are complex and should be handled with caution, adding that public commentary on such issues without full understanding could worsen tensions or aid criminal narratives.

Davido, who has consistently used his platform to speak on social issues, had earlier stated that he remains committed to representing Nigeria with pride while also remembering victims of violence and insecurity.

The controversy has since sparked mixed reactions online, with supporters of both figures debating whether the performance was a humanitarian statement or an inappropriate politicisation of a national tragedy.
