Radda Says 32 of 66 Katsina Water Projects Completed, Vows Timely Delivery

Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State says his administration has completed 32 of the 66 water projects awarded across the state, representing a 48 per cent completion rate.

Radda disclosed this on Thursday while inaugurating the Tsagero Small Town Water Supply Scheme in Rimi Local Government Area.

He assured residents that the remaining projects would be completed on schedule as part of the government’s commitment to improving access to safe and reliable water.

According to the governor, the newly inaugurated scheme will provide potable water to residents of Tsagero and neighbouring communities, while enhancing sanitation, public health and economic activities.

He described access to clean water as a basic necessity and a critical driver of community development.

Radda said the state government was making significant investments in the water sector through the construction and rehabilitation of water facilities across the state.

He listed ongoing interventions to include Phase 1B of the Zobe Water Supply Project, rehabilitation of water treatment plants and reservoirs, installation of pumps and valves, and expansion of small-town water supply schemes.

The governor added that development partners were supporting the state’s efforts through the World Bank-backed Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (SURWASH) Programme and the Sustainable Power and Irrigation for Nigeria (SPIN) project.

He also said the government was constructing sanitation facilities and household latrines in several communities to improve public health.

Radda assured residents that additional water projects would be implemented to expand access to potable water across the state.

He urged community leaders and residents to safeguard the newly inaugurated facility to ensure its sustainability.

The governor commended the Ministry of Water Resources, the Small Town Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (STOWASSA), contractors and other stakeholders for their contributions to the successful completion of the project.
