As reported earlier by our sports journalist, Enzo Fernandez has faced backlash following his discriminatory video targeting the French national team players during their Copa America title parade on Monday.
The club affirmed that it has seen traces of racial discrimination in the Instagram video posted by its Argentina player, and it’s absolutely an unacceptable development:
“Chelsea Football Club finds all forms of discriminatory behavior completely unacceptable. We are proud to be a diverse, inclusive club where people from all cultures, communities, and identities feel welcome.”
The club added that Enzo’s public apology has been acknowledged, but it has instigated disciplinary procedures:
“We acknowledge and appreciate our player’s public apology and will use this as an opportunity to educate.
The club has instigated an internal disciplinary procedure.”
