PSG Suffer Major Setback as Hakimi and Dembele Face Weeks Out After Bayern Defeat

Paris Saint-Germain have been dealt a heavy blow following their Champions League loss to Bayern Munich, as both Achraf Hakimi and Ousmane Dembele have been ruled out for several weeks due to injuries sustained during the match.

The News Chronicle gathered that the 2–1 defeat at the Parc des Princes not only dented PSG’s European campaign but also left Luis Enrique’s side with two crucial absentees at a pivotal stage of the season. Hakimi twisted his ankle badly after a rough tackle from Bayern’s Luis Diaz, while Dembele limped off earlier with a calf strain that will keep him sidelined through the international break.

Medical reports released by the club confirmed that Hakimi suffered a “severe sprain to his left ankle,” which will require several weeks of rehabilitation. Dembele, on the other hand, is nursing a left calf injury that will see him undergo treatment for a similar duration. PSG stated that detailed updates on both players’ recoveries will be provided after the international window.

Hakimi’s injury has drawn significant concern, as the Moroccan full-back is expected to lead his national team in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. The challenge from Diaz, which initially earned a yellow card before being upgraded to a red following VAR review, left Hakimi in visible pain and emotional as he was helped off the field.

For Dembele, the setback marks another frustrating chapter in his return to form. The French winger had only recently recovered from a hamstring issue and was beginning to find rhythm before this fresh injury halted his progress.

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany and Diaz have both publicly wished Hakimi a quick recovery, with Kompany acknowledging the “tough nature of injuries in high-intensity matches.”

As PSG prepare for their next Ligue 1 clash against Lyon, manager Luis Enrique faces the challenge of reshaping his lineup. With Desire Doue and Nuno Mendes also sidelined, squad depth will be tested as the French champions aim to stay competitive in both domestic and European competitions.
