PRP Bauchi Rejects Rumoured Defection of Bauchi Gov to Its Party

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Bauchi State has said it has no space to accept Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed as a member, despite rumours that he may soon defect to the party.

In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by the State Secretary, Hon. Wada Abdullahi, the party said it is aware of speculation that the governor might join the PRP following what it described as the collapse of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at all levels.

According to the statement, even if the rumours are true, the PRP will not welcome Governor Bala Mohammed because his performance in office has been poor and below the party’s standards.

The PRP also criticised the conduct of the governor and his supporters during recent events at Wadata Plaza in Abuja, saying their behaviour goes against the party’s values of discipline, decency, orderliness, and integrity.

The party added that if it forms the government in 2027, it will investigate Governor Bala’s administration, hold anyone found guilty accountable, and review policies it considers harmful to Bauchi State.

This includes the creation of a new First Class Emirate and the appointment of the governor’s elder brother as Emir, decisions the party believes require thorough examination and possible reversal.

However, the PRP said it remains open to individuals who have genuinely contributed to the development of Bauchi State and can help advance the party’s vision.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to serving the people with integrity and maintaining high standards of leadership.
