Social media commentator and activist Prince Ayo Fayose has criticised Nigerians still supporting President Bola Tinubu despite the sharp rise in petrol prices under his administration.
In a recent Facebook post, Fayose compared the current petrol price with what Nigerians paid under a previous administration, questioning why citizens who once condemned the government over fuel prices now praise Tinubu despite the higher cost.
He wrote: “U bought Fuel ₦98 when a non…..man was a President, U called him incompetent. Now you’re buying fuel at ₦1,500 when a ……..man is the President and you’re calling him a builder. you’re a big f00l.”
The News Chronicle reports that the activist accused supporters of applying different standards when assessing the two administrations.
He further described those defending the current fuel price as “fools” and “mumu,” arguing that Nigerians should judge governments by their impact on living costs rather than political loyalty.
The post has since generated reactions on social media, with Nigerians divided over the comparison and the government’s handling of fuel prices.
