Celebrations have hit the streets of the Ahoada area of Rivers State due to unconfirmed reports of the death of a cult leader named Gift Okpara, popularly known as 2Baba. Previously, the State Governor, Siminalayi “Sim” Fubara had promised an N100m for the apprehension of 2Baba.
Recall that in September 2023, a divisional police officer named Bako Angbashim was ambushed, captured, and killed by a cult group allegedly led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA.
2Baba was allegedly killed during a combined security raid on the hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang in Idu-Ekpeye, Rivers State, on Saturday, February 17, 2024, between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
According to a senior police officer speaking anonymously, 2Baba was hit multiple times during the operation.
However, there has been no official confirmation of his death at the time of the report.
