Pressure mounts on Governor Yusuf to disclose Kwankwaso’s records amid Ganduje probe.

The Coalition for Truth and Justice (CTJ) has taken a stand, advocating for a thorough probe into Ganduje’s tenure.

The current situation surrounding Alhaji Umar Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State, is rife with accusations of corruption.
Their appeal is grounded in the alleged acceptance of significant bribes amounting to $413,000 and N1.38 billion.
This move has been echoed by the Kano State government, which has indicated its intention to pursue legal action against Ganduje, alongside his wife Hafsat and son Umar, who are also implicated in the charges.
In a recent press briefing, the Coalition for Truth and Justice commended the decision to investigate Ganduje, viewing it as a step towards fostering transparency and accountability in governance.
Obinna Francis, the leader of the Coalition, emphasized the importance of broadening the scope of the investigation to include other influential figures, warning against the dangers of selective justice.
He highlighted the need for impartiality, arguing that failure to scrutinize individuals like Kwankwaso could be perceived as biased and politically motivated.
The Coalition’s statement calls attention to the broader context of corruption within the state, advocating for a comprehensive investigation spanning multiple administrations.
They argue that justice should be blind to social and political status, emphasizing the need for fairness and inclusivity in the pursuit of accountability.
Specifically, they urge the Judicial Commission of Inquiry to delve into the period from 1999 to 2003 and 2011 to 2015, citing instances of alleged fraudulent allocation of government properties during these times.
The unfolding events surrounding Ganduje’s alleged involvement in bribery underscore the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring that those in positions of power are held accountable for their actions.
The call for a thorough investigation reflects a broader societal demand for transparency and integrity in governance, with implications extending beyond the individual case to the wider landscape of political accountability.
“We believe that justice should be blind and impartial, regardless of one’s social or political status. Therefore, we call for a fair and comprehensive investigation that includes all relevant parties.”
