President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the creation of the National Tax Policy Implementation Committee to drive the rollout of Nigeria’s new tax reform framework.
The committee will be led by Joseph Tegbe and supervised by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun.
It will work with key stakeholders from government and the private sector to ensure smooth and effective implementation of the reforms.
Tegbe will head a team that includes Sanyade Okoli as Secretary, alongside Ismaeel Ahmed, Rukaiya El-Rufai, and other professionals from finance, law, and civil society.
President Tinubu noted that the new tax laws are vital for building a modern, fair, and transparent tax system that supports economic growth while safeguarding the interests of citizens and businesses.
The NTPIC is expected to conduct nationwide consultations, enhance public awareness, improve coordination among government agencies, and ensure the reforms increase revenue, reduce leakages, and strengthen Nigeria’s economy.
