President Tinubu Moves to End Akume – Alia Rift, Schedules Fresh Peace Talks in Benue

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and Hyacinth Alia to resolve their lingering differences without further delay, in a move aimed at restoring political harmony in Benue State.
Following the President’s directive, a crucial meeting earlier scheduled for Thursday, April 30, has been rescheduled to Sunday, May 3, and will take place in Benue State.
Sources familiar with the development indicate that the meeting is expected to address all outstanding issues between the two political figures, whose rift has drawn concern within party ranks.
Early indications suggest that a reconciliation deal may be in the works, with Governor Alia likely to secure a return ticket, while Akume may be given the opportunity to nominate a majority of candidates for the National Assembly positions.
The outcome of the meeting is anticipated to play a significant role in shaping the political landscape of Benue State ahead of future elections.
