President Tinubu Hails Port Harcourt Refinery Restart, Plans for Warri and Kaduna

—

President Bola Tinubu has celebrated the successful revitalization of the Port Harcourt refinery, which officially commenced petroleum product loading on November 26, 2024.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President congratulated the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) for this significant achievement.

Tinubu acknowledged the foundational role played by former President Muhammadu Buhari in initiating the comprehensive rehabilitation of Nigeria’s refineries and expressed gratitude to the African Export-Import Bank for its financial support of this critical project.

He also commended NNPCL’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, for his dedication and leadership in overcoming challenges to reach this milestone.

Following the revival of the Port Harcourt refinery, President Tinubu directed NNPCL to expedite the reactivation of the second Port Harcourt refinery and the Warri and Kaduna refineries. He emphasized that these efforts are crucial for enhancing Nigeria’s domestic production capacity and positioning the country as a major energy hub.

The President reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s energy infrastructure, aiming to change the perception of Nigeria as a crude oil producer that fails to refine its resources for local consumption.

He called on all stakeholders to maintain integrity and accountability as the nation works towards energy sufficiency and enhanced export capacity.

In alignment with his Renewed Hope Agenda, Tinubu underscored the importance of shared economic prosperity and urged all citizens to focus on their responsibilities in service to the nation.
