President Buhari Did Extremely Well on the Economy — Sirika

Former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has defended the economic legacy of late President Muhammadu Buhari, insisting that Nigeria was in a stronger position when the former leader handed over power in May 2023.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television monitored by The News Chronicle, Sirika maintained that Buhari’s administration recorded significant gains, particularly in the economy and education, describing the country as “flourishing” at the end of his tenure.

“President Buhari had done extremely well on the economy. I am not an economist, but I know this because I lived in the country and served in the government. I saw that Nigeria was in a much better state at the time, both economically and in the education sector,” he said.

Sirika added that Buhari left behind a thriving nation but declined to compare the former president’s policies with those of the current administration.

“I believe President Buhari left behind a country that was flourishing. However, I’m neither President Buhari nor President Tinubu, so I cannot fully comment on the policies they made or the decisions they took while in office. I don’t think it would be fair for me to sit here and criticize policies,” he stated.
