For Manchester United, Ten Hag selected a formidable team in:

Sub: Pellistri, Heaton, Baily, Van Der Beek, Amad, Alex Telles, Malacia, Elanga, Wan Bissaka, Laid, Chong, Hannibal, Savage, Garnacho and Iqbal

Liverpool Journalist Neil Jones on his analysis on the game:

“The bulk of the damage was done in the first half, when Jadon Sancho, Fred, and Anthony Martial all netted, and while Liverpool dominated the second half for the most part, it was United who grabbed the final goal on the break through Facundo Pellistri.

Liverpool used 32 players in all, fielding three separate outfield sides, all of whom played 30 minutes. Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho made their debuts, with Carvalho hitting the post (Luis Diaz and Mo Salah later did the same) and Nunez having a couple of late chances to score.”
