Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly have thrown their weight behind Sen. Ahmed Wadada as the chosen successor to Gov. Abdullahi Sule ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
The Speaker of the House, Dr. Danladi Jatau, disclosed this stance while addressing journalists shortly after the caucus meeting of APC lawmakers held on Tuesday in Lafia.
Jatau explained that the lawmakers reached a unanimous decision to support Wadada, aligning with the governor’s endorsement.
He noted that the gathering was aimed at strengthening cohesion, harmony, and forward movement within the party in the state.
“We have discussed a range of issues involving unity, peace, and progress of the party, as well as the recent endorsement of Sen. Ahmed Wadada by his Gov. Sule as his preferred successor.
“We, as APC lawmakers, are united and will remain loyal to the party and follow the decision of the governor on his preferred successor,” he said.
The Speaker praised Sule’s leadership approach, emphasizing that the governor has steered the state’s affairs with competence and stability.
Reaffirming their commitment, Jatau said the lawmakers are fully prepared to back Wadada’s governorship ambition in 2027.
“This is because, during consultations by APC governorship aspirants, we made it clear that we would support any aspirant endorsed by the governor,” he said.
He further called on other aspirants within the party to accept the governor’s position and unite behind Wadada for the collective interest of the APC.
“I urge all aspirants to support the governor’s preferred candidate, Sen. Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, and work together for the success of the party in 2027,” he said.
