Earlier, the commencement of sitting by the Nigerian Senators was interrupted for a moment following the unavailability of power supply in the red chamber in Abuja on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.Â
It was gathered that power was later restored and the lawmakers converged in their chamber to commence the day’s plenary session.
It would recalled that the Abuja Electricity Distribution PLC had in February, threatened to disconnect the electricity supply of 86 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) over a total of N47.1bn debt.
Meanwhile, some of the MDAs include the Ministry of Finance, Information, Budget, Works and Housing, barracks, Nigeria Police Force, Presidential Villa, CBN Governor, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and state liaison offices in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
