Portugal Coach Jorge Jesus Confirms Cristiano Ronaldo Remains Key to 2030 World Cup Plans

Portugal’s new head coach, Jorge Jesus, has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will continue to play a central role in the national team as long as he remains fit and performs at the required level.

The News Chronicle reports that Jesus, who has recently worked with Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, believes the seasoned striker remains a significant player for Portugal, both on and off the field. The seasoned manager agreed a four-year contract to guide the squad through the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Talking about Ronaldo’s future, Jesus added, I will pick him under the circumstances I think best for the national team as long as he is playing and in shape to be chosen. He also called the five-time Ballon d’Or winner a monument of Portuguese football.

The 71-year-old coach dismissed worries about handling the football’s greatest by saying, “Cristiano Ronaldo is never going to be a problem for the national team or for me. I had great pleasure working with him. He is easy to work with.”

Following Portugal’s World Cup exit, Jesus replaces Roberto Martinez and will now focus on developing a team capable of competing for major honors by blending seasoned players with fresh talent.
