Popular Nigerian Radio Stations Announce Closure Over Economic Hardship

—

Beat FM 97.9 and Naija FM 102.7 in Ibadan, Oyo State have announced a temporary closure of their stations.

This was revealed by the parent company, Megalectrics, on Thursday.

The reason for the closure is attributed to the prevailing economic conditions in the country.

Megalectrics CEO, Christopher Ubosi, mentioned that other stations in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, and London are still fully operational.

The temporary closure is intended to allow the company to regroup, restructure, and emerge stronger, aiming to provide a better experience for staff, clients, and listeners.

Beat and Naija FM have had a significant impact on Ibadan’s culture, offering entertainment, music, and news over the years.

The CEO expressed gratitude to the staff in Ibadan for their contributions to the success of these stations.

Public trust has been a driving force behind their success, and Megalectrics is committed to maintaining open communication and finding innovative solutions for all involved parties.
