Police uniforms confiscated, and four suspects apprehended by customs

The Federal Operations Unit Zone B of the Nigerian Customs Service has successfully intercepted a truck carrying an Ala container along the Lokoja-Abuja Highway.

The truck was found to contain 37 bales and 4 rolls of Nigeria Police camouflage uniforms.

This intervention occurred on December 15, 2023, around 1400hrs, leading to the arrest of four individuals linked to the seized items.

During a news briefing on Thursday, the Comptroller of the Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘B’ Kaduna, Dalha Audu Chadi, highlighted that the customs operatives acted on credible intelligence that led to the apprehension of the vehicle transporting the said items.

Recognizing the potential misuse of the police camouflage uniforms for unlawful activities, the seized goods, along with the four suspects and the means of transport, were handed over to the State Director of the Department of State Security (DSS), Kaduna State Command, on December 27, 2023.

Chadi emphasized that this collaborative effort between agencies aims at ensuring a thorough investigation and possible prosecution of those involved.

The transfer of responsibility to the Department of State Services (DSS) took place after obtaining the required authorization from the Comptroller-General of Customs, highlighting the collaborative approach among different agencies in dealing with these issues.

This exemplifies a commitment to inter-agency cooperation and coordination, demonstrating a shared effort to address matters of mutual concern.

The seamless handover process underscores the importance of working together to achieve common objectives in a concerted manner, fostering a spirit of collaboration among governmental entities.
