The Nigerian Police recently took action against a group of dangerous criminals in Abuja, the capital city.

According to a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, released on Saturday, a notorious bandit named Musa Sabo Magaji was among those dealt with during an operation in the Mpape area of Abuja.

The statement explained that in the early hours of February 9, 2024, around 2:40 am, a team of police officers from the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Bureau – Intelligence Response Team (FIB-IRT) acted on information and successfully attacked, neutralized, and eliminated many notorious kidnappers, including the aforementioned Musa Wada (Sabo) Magaji, in an operation conducted around Mpape, Abuja.

The police team also managed to destroy the hideouts of these kidnappers, who have been causing trouble for residents of Abuja recently.

The armed bandits fought back, resulting in a 30-minute gun battle that left many of them fatally injured, while one police officer sustained a bullet wound.

This achievement came shortly after the neutralization of Abubakar Wada, an associate of Musa Wada, on February 8, 2024, who was instrumental in leading the police to their hideout.

Musa Wada, also known as Sabo, was responsible for numerous kidnappings for ransom in areas like Mpape, Bwari in the FCT; Kagarko in Kaduna; Masaka, and Nukun Village in Nasarawa State.

His tactics involved targeting wealthy individuals and organizing armed gangs to carry out abductions for ransom.

The successful raid on their hideout, located in the outskirts of Mpape Hills, was carried out by the brave officers of the FIB-IRT through a surprise assault, resulting in the elimination of these notorious criminals.

Furthermore, items recovered from the hideout included mobile phones, multiple SIM cards, charms, and drugs, which are crucial pieces of evidence aiding ongoing investigations.

Efforts are underway to recover additional weapons, ammunition, and other equipment used by these criminals for their illegal activities.
