Eight individuals suspected of being involved in criminal activities were apprehended while allegedly attempting to disrupt the inauguration ceremony of newly appointed state commissioners at the Kano State Government House.
The State Police Commissioner, CP Usaini Gumel, confirmed the arrest and emphasized the seriousness of any attempts to disturb the peace during important government proceedings.
CP Gumel issued a stern warning to both troublemakers and those who might be backing them, stressing that anyone found attempting to breach security or disrupt government functions would face the consequences of their actions.
He specifically addressed the issue of groups known as “Yan Jagaliya” loitering around government premises and causing disturbances, asserting that such behavior would not be tolerated.
The police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, elaborated on the incident, stating that the suspects were allegedly political thugs associated with a particular politician. Their purported aim was to create chaos and undermine the inauguration proceedings.
The swift response from the police prevented any serious disruptions, and the suspects were taken into custody for further investigation.
They are currently being held at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where thorough inquiries are being conducted to ensure justice is served according to the law.
This action by the Kano State Police Command aims to reassure the public that all necessary measures are being taken to maintain peace and security across the state and prevent any future disturbances.
