Police Inspector Dismissed over N29.8M Theft and Kidnapping Case in Abuja

—

The Nigeria Police Force has taken disciplinary action against one of its officers, Inspector Adabo Mohammed, by dismissing him from service for his involvement in criminal activities, including conspiracy and armed robbery.

Inspector Mohammed was reportedly part of a gang that carried out an armed robbery, during which they stole N29.8 million from a victim in Gwagwalada, located in the Federal Capital Territory. This gang comprised six members, including Mohammed.

The dismissal of Inspector Mohammed was announced in a statement released on Friday, 17 May, 2024 by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The statement, titled “Police Speak Tough on Indiscipline, Misconduct,” highlighted the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to maintaining high professional standards.

Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun has emphasized the Force’s zero-tolerance policy towards any form of indiscipline among its ranks.

The statement underscored that the police force is dedicated to serving and protecting the public with honor and integrity.

Inspector-General Egbetokun stressed that any violations of the core values of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) would be met with decisive actions to uphold public trust and ensure justice is served.

He reiterated that the mission of the police is to serve the community with the utmost professionalism and that any deviations from this mission would not be tolerated.

The statement further detailed that all reported cases against police personnel are being diligently addressed, with appropriate actions being taken against those found guilty.

This includes sanctions against many erring officers, while some cases are still undergoing orderly room trials and are expected to be concluded soon.

In addition to the dismissal of Inspector Mohammed, the statement revealed that three other officers had been demoted to their previous ranks following thorough investigations.

These investigations confirmed their involvement in various acts of indiscipline and criminal activities.

The decisive actions taken against these officers reflect the administration’s commitment to enforcing discipline and upholding the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force.
