A police inspector, whose identity has not been disclosed, has allegedly severed his wife’s hand during a dispute over N20,000.
This incident which happened in the Dong area of Jos North local government area of Plateau State has sent shockwaves through the community.
The inspector was said to have left the money at home and upon returning to retrieve it, an argument ensued between him and his wife.
The disagreement escalated quickly, resulting in the inspector resorting to violence and cutting his wife’s hand.
Confirmation of the incident came from the Plateau State Police Command, with the Police Spokesman, DSP Alfred Alabo, stating that the suspect has been apprehended and investigations are ongoing.
Alabi said, “We are aware of the incident, the man is an Inspector. Right now, he is at the State CID and the investigation is ongoing.”
According to Alabo, the altercation stemmed from a minor misunderstanding between the inspector and his wife over the money.
The inspector claimed he needed the money for a particular purpose, sparking the argument. The situation escalated when the wife reportedly refused to give him N3,000 from the N20,000.
The victim, who is pregnant, was promptly taken to a hospital for medical attention. A concerned neighbor expressed shock over the incident, highlighting the severity of the altercation.
