Police in Kano arrest 3 suspected kidnappers for killing neighbor’s 14-year-old son

The Kano State Police Command caught three people who kidnapped and killed a 14-year-old boy from their neighborhood in Kano.

The police spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said on Thursday that they got a report on February 8, 2024, from a man named Alhaji Rabiu Abdullahi.

He said someone called Alhaji Rabiu and said they kidnapped his 14-year-old son, Abdullahi Sani, and wanted 4 million naira to let him go.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, ordered a team from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to find the boy and catch the kidnappers.

“The team got to work quickly. They found the main suspect, Ismail Adamu, 22 years old, from Hotoron Fulani Quarters, Kano, on February 12, 2024.

“Ismail Adamu admitted he planned with another person named Risi, from Mariri Quarters, Kano, to kidnap the boy.

They took him to Sabuwar Zara Village, stabbed him in the neck, and threw him into a soakaway at an unfinished building in Sabuwar Zara Quarters, Kano. Then they called the father and asked for 4 million naira for the boy’s release.”

The police went to the crime scene, took the boy’s body out of the soakaway, and took it to Abdullahi Wase Specialists Hospital Kano. A doctor there confirmed the boy was dead and kept the body in the hospital’s morgue.

They arrested two more suspects: Musa Usman, 17 years old, and Abdullahi Usman, 20 years old, both from Hotoron Fulani Quarters, Kano.

They helped the main suspect negotiate the ransom using a mobile phone. The police will take them to court after they finish investigating.

The police spokesperson also reminded people to be careful who they lend their phones to and to report any suspicious activity around them.
