Police in Gombe dismantle a 12-member fake dollar syndicate

In the state of Gombe, authorities have taken action by apprehending 12 individuals believed to be involved in a fraudulent dollar scheme.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar, shared this information on Thursday, revealing that the suspects were allegedly engaged in the production and circulation of what is suspected to be counterfeit currency.

The arrests were made by the command’s operatives, who acted based on credible intelligence.

The suspects were detained in the area between Bajoga and Dukku. The police successfully seized 563 pieces of suspected counterfeit 100 dollar bills along with N265,000 in cash from the apprehended individuals.

In light of these developments, the spokesperson emphasized that a thorough investigation would be conducted, and upon its completion, the suspects would face legal charges.

Furthermore, he called upon the residents of the state to heighten their awareness, urging them to report any individuals or activities that appear suspicious to the relevant security agencies.

This collaborative effort between the community and law enforcement is crucial in maintaining a secure and vigilant environment.
