Police Declare No Hiding Place for Killers of Benue MACBAN Chairman, Aide, Launch Massive Manhunt

Police have launched a full-scale investigation into the killing of the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Risku Mohammed, and another man, Yakubu Isa, who were ambushed and murdered by suspected assailants in Otukpo.

The Benue State Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Makurdi by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet.

According to the police, the victims were attacked along the Okwudu–Ogoli Road while returning from a security meeting.

Condemning the attack, Nwadiogbu described the killings as “senseless and criminal,” warning that such acts threaten the peace and security efforts currently underway across the state.

The police boss expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and all those affected by the tragedy, assuring that the perpetrators would not escape justice.

He said the command had launched a comprehensive investigation and deployed tactical and intelligence teams to track down those responsible.

“The command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the incident, while tactical and intelligence assets have been deployed to identify, apprehend and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“We will leave no stone unturned until the culprits are arrested and prosecuted,” the CP said.

Nwadiogbu urged residents to remain calm, avoid taking the law into their own hands, and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of escalating tensions.

He also appealed to members of the public with credible information to report to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines to aid the ongoing investigation.

Reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, the CP pledged sustained collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure everyone involved in the killings is brought to justice.
