The FCT Police Command has apprehended a wanted, notorious armed robbery kingpin, Chukwuemeka Oputa, famously known as “Pounds and Dollar,” along with four of his accomplices responsible for series of armed robberies and other heinous crimes in FCT.
This successful arrest follows thorough investigations into a string of armed robberies and other criminal activities that have plagued the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Chukwuemeka Oputa, aged 38 and originally from Umuaka, Njaba, Imo State, was identified as the ringleader of the armed robbery gang responsible for numerous heinous crimes in the FCT.
According to Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, the arrest of Moses Hassan, a cultist and member of the same gang, on February 14, 2024, played a crucial role in facilitating Oputa’s apprehension.
Subsequent investigations led to the capture of three other members of the gang: Praise Etta, Rafael Dav (also known as Raffy), and Thomas Akange.
All suspects have reportedly confessed to their involvement in various armed robberies and other criminal activities in the FCT. Additionally, they are confirmed members of the Vikings confraternity cult group.
A significant amount of evidence was recovered during the arrests, including four locally fabricated AK47 rifles, three locally made rifles utilizing cartridges, an English pistol, a locally made pistol, and a Dane gun.
Furthermore, three AK47 ammunitions, a 5.56mm assault ammunition, and an empty cartridge were seized from the suspects.
The Commissioner of Police emphasized that the FCT Police Command remains committed to prioritizing public safety and combating crime to ensure the security of all residents within the territory.
