Police Arrest 43 in Borno for Drug, Possession of Weapons and Public Nuisance

In a renewed effort to rid Borno State of criminal elements and social vices, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Anti-Social Vices Team of the Borno State Police Command have arrested 43 suspects during coordinated raids across Maiduguri and its environs.

The raids, which took place on November 11 and 12, 2025, were carried out simultaneously in Baga Road, Kasuwan Shanu, Ngomari, Galadima, Ajilari-Cross, Ummarari, and Bulumkutu Yan Nono areas.

The suspects were apprehended for offenses including the sale and distribution of banned substances, public nuisance, and possession of dangerous weapons.

Items recovered during the operation include 57 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 22 pieces of D5 tablets, 36 Ezol tablets, 2 knives, a rubber container of “Suck and Die,” and 183 wraps of unidentified dried leaves known locally as “Scon” or “Colorado.”

The police said all suspects and exhibits are currently in custody undergoing investigation, after which they will be charged to court.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, praised the RRS operatives for their proactive efforts and reiterated the Command’s commitment to keeping the state free from crime and social vices.

He also urged residents to continue providing useful information to support the police in maintaining peace and security across Borno State.
