Police apprehend car thieves, reclaim three stolen vehicles in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command successfully nabbed two suspected car thieves and a buyer of stolen vehicles, recovering three stolen cars in Tudun Wada and Sabon Gari, both located in Zaria, Kaduna State.

In an official statement released on Monday, the Kaduna State Police Command, as articulated by its Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansur Hassan, reported that the arrest unfolded on November 23, 2023, around 06:00 hours.

Acting on credible information, operatives stationed at the Zaria city Divisional Headquarters apprehended a 28-year-old male, Ismail Salisu, in possession of a stolen red Toyota Corolla with registration number Kano GWL 188 TT at Agoro Tudun Wada, Zaria.

Simultaneously, the Sabon Gari Zaria Division operatives, around 18:30 hours on the same day, arrested Isa Adamu, recovering a grey-colored Toyota Corolla LE 2003 model.

Adamu confessed to stealing the vehicle in Kaduna town and bringing it to Zaria for disposal.

Adamu, a dismissed soldier, gained notoriety for car snatching, theft, and other felonious activities in Benin, Kaduna, and Zaria.

Additionally, acting on reliable intelligence, the Sabon Gari Zaria Division arrested Emeka Nwobodo of Graceland Zaria, who was found in possession of a stolen white Toyota Hilux pickup van with registration number Jigawa GML 40 AG.

Nwobodo claimed to have bought the van from someone named Ibrahim, whose surname remains unknown. The genuine owner, Ibrahim Aliyu of Aliyu Mohammed road Ungwan Kaduna, has been traced.

All three cases are currently under discreet investigation, with efforts to apprehend the accomplices of the suspects for possible arrest. Once the investigation concludes, the suspects will face charges in court.

Commending the operatives for their success, Commissioner of Police A.D Ali urged them not to relent in thwarting criminal activities in the state.

He urged the general public to actively contribute to enhancing the collective safety and security of the community by willingly sharing reliable information with law enforcement agencies regarding any individuals or activities that raise suspicions.

This collaborative effort is crucial for facilitating a swift and effective response from security agencies, thereby fostering a safer environment for everyone.
