Police apprehend alleged kidnappers in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command recently made a significant breakthrough in combating kidnapping activities in Mararaba with the arrest of three individuals suspected of involvement in such criminal acts.
The apprehended individuals, identified as Babangida Abdullahi (29), Mohammed Abubakar (27), and Yakubu Sani (30), all residing in Aso B Mararaba, Karu LGA, are alleged to have conspired to carry out a kidnapping operation targeting Ibrahim Idris, who happens to be an uncle to one of the suspects.
Reports from the Police Public Relations Officer in Nasarawa, DSP Ramhan Nansel, indicate that the suspects initiated contact with Idris, threatening him with abduction unless he paid a ransom of N2 million.
Fearing for his safety, Idris complied with their demands and delivered the specified amount to a location designated by the suspects.
Subsequently, the suspects retrieved the ransom and divided it amongst themselves. DSP Nansel, in his press release bearing reference number AZ:5250/NAS/PRD/VOL.2/68, highlighted the modus operandi of the suspects, detailing how they coordinated the extortion scheme and exploited the victim’s fear to extort money from him.
Furthermore, it was disclosed that the arrested suspects have admitted to their involvement in the crime during interrogations.
The police are now intensifying efforts to track down another member of the syndicate who managed to evade capture during the operation.
This development underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to curb criminal activities, particularly kidnapping, which poses a serious threat to the safety and security of residents in the region.
The successful apprehension of these suspects serves as a testament to the dedication and effectiveness of the police force in combating crime and ensuring the protection of citizens.
