Police Apprehend 66 Feared Members of the Sara Suka Cult in Plateau

The Plateau State Police Command reported on Friday that they had apprehended 66 individuals suspected of belonging to the notorious Sara Suka cult group, known for instilling fear among residents in the state.
The arrests were made during the recent Sallah celebration at various locations.
Commissioner Hassan Yabanet, addressing the press at the command’s headquarters in Jos, emphasized the force’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ lives and property.
“Gentlemen of the press, I wish to inform you that our strategic deployment paid off, as a total of seventy-six (66) suspects were arrested at different locations within the state, and the following exhibits were recovered from them: Fourteen (14) machetes Eight (8) daggers A large quantity of dried leaves is suspected to be Indian hemp. Six (6) tricycles, four (4) motorcycles and a bottle containing illicit substances. Meanwhile, all the suspects are undergoing interrogation and will be charged to court soonest.”
During the operation, authorities seized a cache of weapons from the suspects, including 14 machetes, 8 daggers, and a significant quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
Additionally, six tricycles, four motorcycles, and a bottle containing illicit substances were confiscated.
Yabanet highlighted the peaceful nature of the recent Eid-El-Fitr celebration and attributed it to the strategic deployment of security personnel.
“I wish to most graciously announce to you that the Eid-El-Fitr celebration in the state was peaceful and devoid of any rancour or attack on worshippers.”
Furthermore, two individuals were apprehended in Wase LGA for their involvement in armed robbery.
Yabanet reiterated the police force’s zero-tolerance stance towards lawlessness and urged parents and guardians to monitor their children closely.
 He assured that all suspects would undergo interrogation and be promptly charged to court.
Yabanet expressed gratitude for the continued support of the press in aiding the Nigeria Police Force’s efforts in maintaining law and order.
