The Plateau State Government recently announced a significant allocation of Three Hundred Million Naira (N300,000,000) monthly to address outstanding pensions, gratuities, and death benefits dating back to 1986.

The State Head of Service, Barrister Rauta Dakok, shared this development during a press briefing in Jos, Plateau State.
He emphasized the administration’s accomplishments, including promptly initiating monthly pension payments for retirees and revising the salary structure.
Additionally, the government resolved an ongoing strike by state workers and increased Hazard Allowances for medical personnel, reflecting its dedication to labor welfare.
Furthermore, the administration has prioritized the integration of suspended workers back into the civil service, fostering improved government-labor relations.
This proactive approach has led to constructive dialogue and cooperation between the government and labor unions.
Hon. Mohammed Salihu Nyalun, the State Commissioner of Education (Secondary), highlighted efforts to support disadvantaged students across 14 local government areas.
Over 30,000 students will receive financial incentives totaling over 1.3 billion naira to facilitate their education.
Moreover, the government has reinstated 989 teaching and 200 non-teaching staff to address staffing shortages in public schools.
The commitment to education extends beyond financial assistance. The government cleared six years’ worth of school fees amounting to forty million, six hundred thousand naira for Plateau State students attending the National Mathematical Centre in Abuja.
Additionally, the Ministry facilitated students’ participation in a cross-country race in Kaduna, where they excelled, earning medals and securing a spot to represent the country in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Ministry coordinated and sent some students to participate in the marathon cross-country race in Kaduna, where they won the gold medal, three silver medals, and two bronze medals. They will represent the country in Nairobi, Kenya, in May 2024.”
To enhance collaboration and resource mobilization, the Ministry established a Public-Private Partnership Department.
This initiative aims to engage various stakeholders, including government bodies, NGOs, businesses, alumni associations, and community groups, to collectively improve education standards on the plateau.
In his opening statement, Mr. Musa Ashoms, the State Commissioner of Information and Communications, commended Governor Muftwang’s proactive leadership.
Under his guidance, the state has become a hub of infrastructure development and innovative policymaking, driving progress across various sectors.
These initiatives reflect the government’s dedication to inclusive governance, socioeconomic development, and the well-being of Plateau State residents.
