The Plateau State Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area following a deadly security incident in the Gari Ya Waye community of Angwan Rukuba on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

According to an official statement obtained by The News Chronicle, the attack resulted in the loss of several lives, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries. The curfew takes immediate effect from midnight of March 29 and will remain in place until April 1, 2026.

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang condemned the incident, describing it as barbaric and unprovoked. He assured residents that security agencies are working to apprehend those responsible and restore normalcy.

The government urged citizens to remain calm, stay vigilant, and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information to support ongoing investigations.
