PHOTOS: Nigerian Army Inaugurates 91st Regular Recruits Intake in Amasiri-Edda

The Depot Nigerian Army, Amasiri-Edda, has formally inaugurated the 91 Regular Recruits Intake (91RRI), marking the commencement of basic military training for newly enlisted Nigerian Army recruits.

The colourful ceremony, held on Monday, August 10, 2026, signalled the beginning of the recruits’ transformation from civilians into disciplined soldiers prepared to undertake the responsibilities of military service.

The recruits will undergo an intensive training programme focused on physical fitness, mental resilience, military discipline, professional competence and military bearing.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Commandant of the Depot Nigerian Army, Amasiri-Edda, Brigadier General Ahmed Maikudi Ahmadu, urged the recruits to embrace discipline, resilience, loyalty and professionalism throughout their training.

Ahmadu said the Depot remained committed to producing highly motivated, disciplined and combat-ready soldiers in line with the professional standards of the Nigerian Army.

He reminded the recruits that the Oath of Allegiance they took was more than a ceremonial requirement, describing it as a solemn covenant with the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Commandant therefore charged them to approach their training with seriousness, dedication and determination, stressing that the nation expects excellence from personnel entrusted with defending its territorial integrity and protecting citizens.

He also urged the recruits to regard their enlistment as a privilege and an opportunity to serve Nigeria with honour, courage and selfless commitment.

The high point of the ceremony was the administration of the Oath of Allegiance by the Adjutant, Depot Nigerian Army, Captain Auwal Haladu Buba.

Through the oath, the recruits pledged allegiance to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and committed themselves to upholding the Constitution, obeying lawful orders and adhering to the rules and regulations governing military personnel.

Senior officers, instructors and other personnel of the Depot witnessed the formal induction of the recruits into the military training environment.

The event also reaffirmed the Depot’s mandate to produce well-trained, disciplined and professionally grounded soldiers capable of responding effectively to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

The ceremony ended with a group photograph involving the Commandant, senior officers, instructors and members of the newly inaugurated 91 Regular Recruits Intake.
