The latest appointment of Dr. U. Phillip Igbinadolor, a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and Diplomate of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council in the forth coming Edo state gubernatorial poll, has been described as not just a right step taken in the right direction but a well calculated move and best decision taken by a party desirous of winning the forthcoming governorship context in the state.
This declaration was contained in a well-crafted congratulatory message by Grand Knight Emeritus, Sir Tonna Okei (Ikuku Oma), a Nigerian born but United States of America (USA) based President of South Carolina Organization of African Unity (OAU), via a statement dated Wednesday May 14, 2023, personally signed by him and made available to the global press.
He described the Edo state born Dr. U. Phillip Igbinadolor as a well foresighted, self-contained and quietly influential health professional whose views are not only globally respected but well sought after, noting that he will be bringing these intimidating wealth of experience and his international connection to bear in this newest assignment.
Tonna Okei’s statement reads in part; Dr. Igbinadolor is a seasoned professional and a dependable humanist that could be entrusted with any responsibility with a sure hope of delivery. When it comes to service to humanity and promotion of sustainable development and good governance, he knows neither night nor day as he is always willing, eager and ready to deliver both aptly and promptly.
Continuing, Tonna, an African Culture Ambassador, who doubles as the author of the book, titled ‘I Am Still Standing,’ published by him and launched in the USA on the 16th of March, 2023, boasted of his conviction that Igbinadolor services shall be well required in the state far beyond electioneering as he is an intellectual Iroko and unblemished reformer particularly in the health.
‘I have never met with any soul laced with the level of sacrifice and fearlessness I have seen in Igbinadolor’.
Giving details of his academic and professional backgrounds, the statement explained that Dr. Igbinadolor received his elementary and High School Education from his hometown of Benin City, Edo State and then earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University Of Benin College Of Medical Sciences, Edo State, Nigeria. He served as President of University of Benin Dental Students Association. He then proceeded to the University of London King’s College where he obtained M.Sc. in Dental Public Health and immediately became a Diplomate of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
While he observes that Dr. Igbinadolor is among the few creatures that he has come across with character that is as clear as crystal, Tonna added that as an impeccable scholar, Dr. Igbinadolor is a recipient of King’s College minority Student award.
‘He worked in various positions while in the United Kingdom. In his desire to be a clinically oriented Cosmetic and General Dentist who is willing to learn from colleagues and other professionals, he went to University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine Advanced Study Program for foreign trained Dentists, Pittsburgh, PA where he obtained the Degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine’.
In a related development, he completed the elective program in Dental Anesthesiology as well as the Prosthetic and Surgical curriculum of Branemark System dental implants at the University of Pittsburgh. He is a Blue/Gold Dental Ambassador of the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA.
Away from the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Igbinadolor was a recipient of Stern Scholarship at the institution. He is a member of the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society, North Carolina Academy of General Dentistry, Past President of the University of Benin Alumni Association North America (UBAANA) and was awarded UNIBEN HERO status by his Alma Mater in 2020, a founding member of Nigerian Physicians Advocacy Group (NPAG), a founding member of ANPA Foundation, a member of the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA) where he has served in various positions from being a past Chairman of the Carolinas Chapter and the First Chairman of the Dental Committee of ANPA.
He is a recipient of ANPA 2023 Exceptional Contribution Award and Co-authored “Perceptions of AIDS among dental patients in Nigeria” African Journal of Medical Practice, vol2 No6 1995.
Currently, he is the President of U. Phillip Igbinadolor, DMD and Associates, P. A. based in Monroe and Charlotte, NC. He is happily married to his wife Dr. Awawu Igbinadolor who is an Internist and together they have 3 lovely children, Mark, Megan and Michelle. An avid sportsman who participates in Soccer, Tennis, Reading, and Golfing. He is involved in philanthropy programs worldwide, supporting less privileged people.
