The Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) has poured cold water on reports alleging that the Governor Hope Uzodimma was removed as chairman of the forum, describing the claims as a storm in a teacup.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, the Director-General of the forum, Folorunso Aluko, branded the report as “false and misleading.”
Aluko said the forum’s attention had been drawn to what he described as misleading reports making the rounds on some media platforms, claiming that Uzodimma had been ousted from his position as chairman.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Progressive Governors’ Forum states categorically that the report is entirely false, baseless and without an iota of truth.
“No meeting of the forum was held at which any such decision was taken. The PGF Secretariat has no record of and is not aware of any resolution removing the chairman.
“Hope Uzodimma remains the chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum,” he said.
The DG added that the forum remained united and steadfast in carrying out its mandate, insisting that there was no crack in its ranks.
He urged the public, party supporters and media organisations to treat the report as dead on arrival and disregard it completely.
