Peter Obi Donates N10 Million to a Nursing College in Kogi State

The Labour Party’s presidential candidate in Nigeria’s 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has asserted that Nigeria remains undeveloped because it has not made aggressive investments in critical areas such as health, education and poverty alleviation.

Obi made these remarks during a visit to Grimard College of Nursing Sciences in Anyigba, Kogi State, where he donated N10 million to support the training of nurses.

In a statement released on Monday by Yunusa Tanko, spokesperson for the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), Obi reiterated his unwavering commitment to building a better Nigeria through focused investments in key sectors of human and national development.

He emphasized the importance of health and education as foundational elements for national progress.

“I have consistently urged governments at all levels to increase their investments in health and education,” Obi stated. “Moreover, I continue to call on donor agencies to do the same. Investing in the future of our children is not only beneficial for society but essential for the progress of our nation.”

Addressing the nursing students, Obi highlighted the significance of their chosen profession and its vital role in society.

He expressed concern about the global shortage of nurses and stressed the need for proactive investment in their training. “By training more nurses, we can ensure adequate staffing for our domestic health sector and potentially export skilled professionals to the global community,” he added.

Obi also expressed his gratitude to the Proprietor of the College, Bishop Anthony Ademu Adaji, as well as the Management and Staff of the College for their dedication to producing compassionate and competent healthcare professionals.

“Our commitment is to build a New Nigeria that provides its citizens with access to quality healthcare and educational opportunities. Achieving this vision is possible,” Obi concluded.
