Peller Under Fire Over $36k TV Van, Marriage Before Education

Nigerian streamer Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, known online as Peller, is facing criticism after revealing he has been attending private marriage counseling sessions in Ikorodu, Lagos, to prepare for married life with his partner, Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, popularly known as Jarvis.

Peller shared the update in a video circulating online, explaining that the sessions have kept him away from social media in recent weeks. He said he wanted to learn how to treat Jarvis properly ahead of their wedding, which the couple confirmed will be held on August 1, 2026.

In the same video, Peller disclosed that he had spent $36,000 on a television broadcast van for the ceremony, saying he wants the event shown live across Nigeria.

The disclosures, posted days after the couple’s wedding date announcement, have drawn a mixed but largely critical response online, with many commenters questioning why a 20-year-old is prioritizing marriage preparation over formal education.

“You Never Went To School, But You’re Paying For Marriage Counseling”

On X, formerly Twitter, a user with the handle @evryszn24 asked why Peller had not invested in school to build his knowledge, yet found money for marriage counseling on how to treat a woman better. The post has drawn wide engagement, with several others echoing the same concern.

Another user, @goa_nation1, argued that Peller should be channeling his resources into self-development, his education and his public image before marriage, though the commenter acknowledged it was ultimately not their money to direct.

A user identified as Mercy (@AdaIgbogeneral) questioned the value of the $36,000 spent on the TV van, suggesting the sum could instead have secured land. Hannah Kalu, @HannahKalu6089, made a similar point, saying young people around Peller should be encouraging him to complete his education rather than validate the wedding plans.

Not all reactions were negative. Content creator Uche, @WIZEINTHEBEAT, addressed Peller directly online, describing him as being like a son and saying he had repeatedly advised him privately about the wedding before now. He added that he still wished Peller well despite his reservations.

Other users praised Peller for what they called intentional planning, describing him as a young man taking his relationship seriously.

Peller and Jarvis have been a couple since 2024 and have built a large following through comedy skits, livestreams and prank videos on TikTok. In June 2026, Peller proposed to Jarvis at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana.

A week later, he paid her bride price in her hometown of Benin City, Edo State, and the couple completed their traditional introduction ceremony.

On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the couple posted a video confirming their wedding date, which ends with the message “Jarvis & Peller 01-08-2026.”

Details of the wedding venue have not yet been made public.
