Nigerian content creators Peller and Jarvis held their court wedding on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, in Lagos, days after Jarvis addressed rumours that she had converted to Islam ahead of the ceremony.
Guests and fans confirmed that the couple exchanged vows at the court wedding on Wednesday afternoon. The ceremony followed weeks of public attention around the pair, including their engagement in June at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Ghana.
Hours before the ceremony, Peller responded to critics who had questioned his decision to name his mother, rather than Jarvis, as his next of kin. He said: “Why will someone advise me to use my mom as my next of kin and not to use my wife?”
He also said some people had tried to discourage him from marrying, adding that they had supported another content creator in an attempt to undermine him. According to Peller, those efforts did not succeed.
A day earlier, Jarvis had responded to a viral video showing her and Peller at Lagos Central Mosque, which prompted claims online that she had converted to Islam before the wedding. In a statement posted to her Instagram Story, Jarvis said the video was old and clarified that she and Peller are Christians with Muslim family backgrounds. She wrote: “My husband and I are Christian, and we both have Muslim backgrounds.”
Jarvis added that she and Peller continue to respect people from the Muslim community, describing the relationship between the two faiths as one of unity.
Writer and social commentator Solomon Buchi had shared concerns about the marriage in a video posted to Instagram on Tuesday, July 28. He referenced an earlier livestream in which Jarvis, appearing upset, told Peller he could take back a car he had gifted her. Buchi said:
“I don’t think weeks to a wedding, a woman should be that pissed off that she’s saying you can take back a car.”
He urged the couple to resolve any unresolved issues before marrying and recommended counseling. He also added that marriage requires more commitment than the couple’s online work as content creators.
In the days leading up to the wedding, Peller had shown 12 cows he received as gifts. He later said a man who had pledged an additional 10 cows at Soso Soberekon’s wedding, held the previous weekend, had not delivered on the promise. Peller said the man had asked him to lie on the floor as part of the gesture before making the pledge.
Peller had also asked people without an invitation or aso-ebi not to attend the wedding, and he turned down a broadcast offer from DSTV in favour of covering the event through social media.
Reaction to the wedding has been mixed. Several social media users congratulated the couple and wished them a happy marriage. Others questioned the timing and nature of the wedding, given the couple’s history of public disagreements and their identity as content creators. Others criticized the marriage as premature.
Nonetheless, the couple have since moved on from past disagreements and have shown excitement for the future.
