PDP reacts to Obaseki’s decamp from APC

The Peoples Democratic Party has commended the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, for dumping the All Progressives Congress.

Obaseki had announced his resignation from the APC a chat with State House Correspondents after his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Reacting, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan described Obaseki’s decision as a bold and courageous move.

Ologbondiyan said it was time for Nigerians to come together and save the country from the APC.

In a series of tweets, Ologbondiyan wrote: “I just spoke with @GovernorObaseki. I commended his bold and courageous decision to abandon the fizzling Congress.

“The time has come for all democrats to rally together and save our nation from the failures @OfficialAPCNg

“A new life is brewing in Edo State @OfficialPDPNig as a major stakeholder is keenly following the development.#FizzlingAPC.”

Similarly, former Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, who recently endorsed Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has warned against Godfatherism in Nigerian politics.

The former Accountant General of the Federation made this statement on his Twitter page after Obaseki dumped the APC.

Dankwambo warned that political godfatherism will rob Nigerians of those meant to serve and hinder national development.

His tweet read: “Political godfatherism stunts economic growth. It encourages a system that robs Peter (the Masses) to pay Paul (the godfathers).

“Our governance system must allow power to return back to the people, so we can chart a new course for local and national development.”
