Personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra state have been urged, to shun all acts capable of bringing disrepute to the corps.
The Zonal Commanding Officer, RS5 Headquarters, Benin, Assistant Corps Marshal Nkechi Orakwue advised during a familiarization visit to Anambra Sector Command Headquarters in Awka, which is under her Zone.
She is asking the personnel to recommit themselves to their duty as well as abide by laid down rules guiding their operations, urging them to shun patrol misconducts and to guard their lives and jobs jealously.
According to her, the task of ensuring safety on roads is the collective responsibility of all relevant stakeholders, including the government and the motoring public.
“You are aware that our Corps Marshal has zero tolerance for road crashes. Therefore all hands must be on deck in ensuring the safety of all forms of road users.
“Aggressive and consistent public enlightenment on proper use of the highways has been helpful in educating the public on the need for safety on roads,” she said.
While commending successive Anambra Governments for various supports to the State Sector Command since its inception in 1993, Orakwue called for more logistics support in terms of operational vehicles to ensure officials were visible on the roads; thereby ensuring prompt response to emergencies.
Deputy Corps Commander, Christy Okonkwo, while appreciating the Zonal Commanding Officer for her visit, described her presence as a boost to colleagues, particularly the female folk.
“The presence of the first female Zonal Commander in RS5 Headquarters is a great encouragement for all of us, especially the female folk.
“We pray for God’s grace to enable the Amawbia Anambra-born Orakwue to deliver on her mandates,” she added.
