Unidentified individuals have carried out a remote bomb attack targeting the runway area of Niamey International Airport in the Republic of Niger.
According to a report by DW Hausa, the attack began around midnight and lasted for several minutes, continuing until about 1:00 a.m. on Thursday.
Security sources said Nigerien security forces swiftly responded to the incident and brought the situation under control.
However, the explosions caused panic and confusion among residents, particularly those living in neighborhoods surrounding the airport.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation of casualties or damage, and authorities have yet to identify those responsible for the attack.
Investigations are ongoing as security remains tightened around the airport and nearby areas.
