P-Square Rift: Peter Okoye Slams Brother Paul Over Persistent Discrediting Remarks

In a shocking revelation that further highlights the deepening rift within the legendary Nigerian music duo P-Square, Peter Okoye has publicly addressed his brother, Paul Okoye, over repeated attempts to undermine his contributions to the group.

The emotional outburst, which was shared via social media, sheds light on the growing tension between the two brothers who once dominated the African music scene.

Peter, known by his stage name Mr. P, expressed his frustration and disappointment at Paul, who is also known as Rudeboy, accusing him of consistently discrediting his efforts in the group they both co-founded and nurtured to fame. The rift, which has been simmering for years, has seen Paul granting numerous interviews where he allegedly downplays Peter’s role in P-Square’s success, claiming to have written and performed 99% of the group’s songs.

In his statement, Peter highlighted specific instances where Paul disregarded his contributions, notably on the track “Ejeajo” featuring T.I., which Peter wrote. Paul reportedly dismissed the song as a failure and used its YouTube views as evidence to belittle Peter’s efforts. However, Peter was quick to remind his brother of the numerous hits they created together, such as “Get Squared,” “Bizzy Body,” “Personally,” and “Alingo,” questioning whether these too would be considered failures.

Peter expressed his dismay at Paul’s tendency to speak of P-Square in singular terms, often using “I” and “me,” despite the group being a joint effort. He emphasized that the magic behind P-Square was the result of their combined talents and not any single individual’s prowess. “The fans didn’t fall in love with P-Square because of who sang or danced the most,” Peter stated, underscoring the unique blend of their abilities that made P-Square a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.

The rift between the brothers has been public knowledge since their initial breakup in 2017, which saw both artists pursuing solo careers. However, their individual efforts have not matched the heights they achieved together. Peter’s statement questions the wisdom of their separation, pointing out that neither Rudeboy nor Mr. P has been able to replicate the massive success of P-Square on their own.

Peter also touched on the strained relationship between him and their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who has been a controversial figure in the group’s history. He accused Paul of siding with Jude to marginalize and humiliate him, further deepening the discord within the family.

He questioned the motive behind Paul’s actions, wondering what satisfaction he derives from constantly belittling him. He lamented the impact of their feud on their fans, acknowledging that their ongoing conflict has not only disappointed but also divided their loyal fanbase.
