The Oyo State government on Thursday attended the inauguration and commissioning of the new office for the Violent Crimes Response Unit by the Oyo State Police Command, describing it as a timely intervention for the state’s security architecture.
Officials said the unit is expected to strengthen response to violent crime and enhance public safety across the state.
Speaking at the event, a government representative noted that the initiative would help ensure residents “continue to live, work and raise their families in peace.”
The official also addressed the recent abduction of students and teachers in Oriire LGA, stating that the government is working with security agencies to get clarity on the incident that occurred yesterday.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families that have lost their loved ones. May the souls of the departed rest in peace,” the official said.
The commissioning comes amid ongoing efforts by the state to bolster security and improve coordination between government and law enforcement agencies.
