Oyebamiji Vows to Recall Sacked Workers

Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2026 Osun governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, has promised to reinstate more than 2,000 teachers and health workers disengaged by the state government if elected governor.

Oyebamiji made the commitment in a statement released in Lagos on Sunday after holding talks with over 1,500 teachers and 515 health personnel who claimed they were removed from service in 2022.

He condemned the disengagement of the workers, describing the action as unfair and unfortunate, noting that many of them had devoted years of service to the state before allegedly losing their jobs without salaries, arrears, or any form of job protection.

According to him, no serious government should neglect trained professionals who are willing and ready to contribute to public service.

The APC flag bearer further stated that such decisions erode confidence in the civil service and negatively impact morale within the education and healthcare sectors.

Oyebamiji assured the affected workers that his administration would not only restore them to their positions but would also address unpaid salaries and pending promotion benefits.

“Under our administration, their concerns will be treated with fairness, compassion and sincerity.

“We will ensure their return to work, settle their outstanding arrears and restore dignity to the public service,” he said.

He added that Osun needed a government that recognised workers as vital stakeholders in development, pledging to rebuild trust between public servants and the government.
