Over 2 million children vaccinated for polio in Niger — WHO

In Niger state, of Nigeria, two million children got vaccinated against a sickness called poliomyelitis in only three days.

A person from the World Health Organisation named Walter Kezadi said this on Tuesday during an event where they gave out medical kits in Minna.

Kezadi couldn’t come, so someone named Suleiman Aliyu, who works with the World Health Organisation in Niger state, talked instead. He said the vaccination went very well in the state.

He said, “This happened because the Ministry of Primary Healthcare in the state worked very well with us. ”

“Niger state made it easy for us to vaccinate children against all sicknesses. In these four days of vaccination, more than two million children have already gotten the polio vaccine in the state.”

The Commissioner of Primary Health Care in the state, Dr. Ibrahim Dangana, talked too. He said the government is committed to giving cheap medical help to the people.

He said the government made sure all the Primary Health Care places in the state got enough money.

He also said, “Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago recently gave money to all the health centres in rural areas so they can buy medicine and other important things. This means people can get medical help easily.”

The wife of the governor of Niger state, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago, started the vaccination event. She said her office will keep giving good medical help to women and children.
